NFL Week 12 Wrap: McNabb Benched and Titans Fall

NFL Week 12 was full of storylines and upsets. No bigger storyline than the benching of Eagles' QB Donovan McNabb at halftime. The five-time Pro Bowler struggled mightily going 8-18 with 2 INTs. Youngster and apparent future starter Kevin Kolb took over the offense. Kolb was awful as the Ravens just blew out the Eagles. Andy Reid did announce today that McNabb will start Thursday night versus Arizona and the remainder of the season. Reports have had Reid talking about the benching of McNabb for almost two weeks now. It will be ver! y interesting to see how this team reacts to their leaders benching and now starting once again. It seems over in Philly for McNabb after this season and his coach Andy Reid will likely be joining him. I am a huge Andy Reid fan, but it is time for him to go and the Eagles to move in another direction. His game-planning and in-game decisions have been the largest reason for the Eagles' struggles. His pass happy nature is killing Philly this season.
The Tennessee Titans are no longer unbeaten after the Ne! w York Jets crushed Jeff Fisher's team 34-13. Brett Favre, Th! omas Jon es, and the Jets offense was dazzling once again and the defense shut down the Titans offense. NY is now 8-3 and there is a lot of talk of them being the AFC's best team. I still believe Pittsburgh is the best of the AFC especially when they get healthy. The Jets are red hot though and look poised to win the AFC East. The Titans are now 10-1, but weaknesses were shown in this defeat. When the Jets blitzed Kerry Collins he struggled, when they did not he was fine. All of Collins' receivers dropped several balls as well. The Tennessee running game was a non-factor for the first time this season. RB LenDale White showed his true colors after the game when he said he quote, "did not care or notice because he only got three balls his way." White has had a bevy of character issues in college, but this is his first misstep in the Pros. Head coach Jeff Fisher I am sure will sit down White and work things out. This team is still 10-1, but they need to regroup or they could ! find themselves out early come playoff time.
The NY Giants won again and are now 10-1. It is clear they are the best team in the NFL right now. The Cowboys knocked off SF on the back of T.O. and his 200-yard performance. The NFC playoff picture is very tight. The Giants, Bucs, Cardinals, and Bears are the division leaders, with Carolina and Washington holding the two wildcard spots currently. Dallas and Atlanta are right there at 7-4 as well. Minnesota is 6-5 and the Packers and Saints sit at 5-5 and the two face-off tonight on MNF.
Matt Ca! ssel threw for 400 yards for the second straight game. He is ! only the fifth QB to complete that feat. Welker and Moss had 8 catches each in the big win over Miami. NE is 7-4, but finds themselves out of the playoffs currently. Tennessee, Pittsburgh, NY Jets, and Denver hold the divisions, with Indianapolis and Baltimore holding the wildcard positions. Miami and Buffalo sit behind NE at 6-5. The Chargers fell to 4-7 last night after the last second loss to Adam Vinateri and the suddenly surging Colts. San Diego looks to be dead even though Denver does not seem to want to wrap up that division.
