Cape Town welcomes Volvo Ocean race Leg 1 winners

Ericsson 4 sailed into Table Bay to take the line honours in the first leg of the Volvo Ocean race, with skipper Torben Grael and an exhausted crew onboard.

They were followed nearly 12 hours later by Puma Ocean Racing, with Ken Read at the helm. The first South Africa in port was Jono Swain, on Telefonica Blue, the entry from Spain, and this stage, 7 of the 8 boats are in, with just a damaged and limping Telefonica Black still expected.
